7 Months, yikes!

My dear Preston is 7 months today! I can't believe you are more than half-way through being a baby already. I may have said this at some point already, but man, the first year is just flying by! You are changing so much before our eyes, looking more like a little man every day. And what a great baby you are too! You are healthy, happy, and loved so much by everyone.

These days, you are sitting pretty well by yourself now, but may fall over every now and then. I can see you getting stronger everyday...and because you can sit better, you don't mind sitting in the booster seat anymore! Yay, it makes feeding so much easier for us. However, some funny things I heard about how grandpa feeds you. Apparently, he likes to put you in the bathroom sink because you are so entertained by your own reflection that your head stays up instead of looking down at the floor. I can see how that may work, your grandpa is so creative when it comes to taking care of you..sometimes, it's a bit worrisome.

Another mean of entertainment for you are the dogs. Boy, do you get giddy when you see them sometimes. Right side up and especially, upside down. You love to touch Paris and pull the poor doggy when you get a good grip on her fur. She may be bald soon because of you! I am sure our dogs will only get more attention and have to endure a bit more of your innocent torture once you can actually chase them around. Until then, you are just the sweetest little thing that any mommy could ask for.

You are tired of posing and wants a hug from daddy

To the City and Philly!

Before the last warm days of the year could escape us, we took a family trip to NYC. The last time we went there, it was a surprise Valentine's Day trip with Jack to celebrate our first VDay together after marriage. I remembered it was cold, windy, and I was miserable! Now, two and half years later, I kind of started to miss the city, and although I've been there many times in the past, there's a side of NYC that I never got to experience, the city with a baby. I especially looked forward to showing Preston Time Squares with all the lights and people everywhere, he loves lights! And I wanted to experience Central Park with him, sad but true that I never walked through and appreciated the beauty that is Central Parks all these years. After we did it during this trip, I am really glad that I saved the experience for my lovely little family.

The weather was beautiful that weekend, we could not ask for more. We stayed right in the heart of Time Squares at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel. Although, crazy to find initially because of the one way streets and pedestrians everywhere, it was a great location for a majority of what we wanted to do. Disappointing though was the restaurant selection surrounding the hotel, so believe it or not, we had the most crappy food during the day on Friday, our first full day there. I know what our next trip's objective is...

Preston fared very well in the city. We got a smaller umbrella stroller for this trip, which was smart since doorways are narrow and sidewalks are packed. The most challenging part was finding changing tables, so we had to sneak into several fitting rooms to take care of that task..! Although challenging a times, and overall great fun, we survived with a baby in the city!

On the way home, we dropped by Philly to visit Auntie Julie. It's a wonder why the pictures suddenly look so much better when Julie is around. I really need to learn how to use the darn camera! Preston looks like he had the best time there out of the whole weekend. I guess he was just happy to see his favorite aunt.

I am so glad we made the trip. We feel braver and more capable of conquering any situation every time we take a chance with the baby in new places. The world is so big, and our little guy's only seen a very small fraction of it, granted he is only 7 months...but my objective as his mommy is to explore as much of the world as possible with him, before he gets too old and wants to venture off on his own some day...

Hair All Gone

Over labor day weekend, we took Preston to get his first official haircut in the Kentlands! I originally thought we were going to get him a baby hair trim, but upon getting there, the Vietnamese barber was like, shave the whole head! Jack eagerly agreed, but that was not what I had in mind. Reluctantly, I let her take the buzzer to my baby's head. Like my mom, she said his hair will grow back fuller and more even if we shave it, so, knowing fully well how spotty his hair was, I guess I didn't have a choice.

Preston cried only a little, but behaved himself during the whole process. He surprises us with how brave he is every time we introduce him to new experiences.
