it's been forever since i wrote in this blog, i guess it's about time because believe it or not, Preston is 3 years old today! yes, time flies, that's kind of the theme of this blog, every time i write something, it seems like so much has happened and preston has grown so much.
preston is now in early pre-8 and he is a Squirrel, which is room 8 at Goddard. his teachers are Ms. Baxter and Ms. Rodgriguez. today, we brought cupcakes, noisemakers, and lemonade to his school for a little birthday party. jack said all his little friends came up to give preston hugs when he got to school. so cute. he is learning so much from school, he knows pretty much all his ABCs and numbers through about 20. He gets T, W, and M mixed up sometimes, and when he counts past thirteen, the number that comes after becomes eleventeen. so we're working on it. i felt like one day not long ago he didn't know his letters very well, and then all of a sudden, i asked him to spell out the title of the Frozen book we were reading and he knew every single letter! since then, he's been identifying letters without much issues. his nai nai has also taught him how to count to 10 in chinese, and he knows it in spanish too.
preston is showing promising athleticism. he is shooting basketballs with pretty good accuracy using his little tikes basketball stand. he's also quickly learning how to catch balls. his football throwing skills are also amazing, he puts so much speed and spin into his throw, it's pretty amazing to watch. I think preston is a very open minded sports person.
on our recent trip to Mexico, he learned how to float, granted he wore a kiddie life vest. the whole first day, we had to hold him because his nose dipped in the water otherwise, but by the second day, he was waving his arms in the water and kicking his legs, and tada! he was floating and swimming around all by himself. it's nice that's he's a bit older and can do things himself and follow directions (sometimes). i felt a new sense of freedom the moment he stopped clinging onto me in the water. i love an independent little boy.
these days preston asks a lot of why questions. he also asks questions he know the answers to, so when you respond by asking him the same question back and asking him what he thinks, he usually knows the answer already. he talks in full sentences, and paragraphs and can hold a whole conversation by himself. he tells us stories. amused describes a little bit of how we feel about him.
