Happy 4 Months!

Preston turns 4 months old, right now! Yup, he was born at 11:49PM on February 18th. He has grown so much since then, it's amazing watching him change before our eyes. Just this past Friday, he started to laugh voluntarily when I make faces or funny sounds. I am so glad I no longer have to resort to tickling, or waiting until bath time to hear it. He's also been more 'talkative' than ever, cooing our ears off. Preston's able to pick his toys up now and hold them in the air for a short period of time. He loves grabbing and stuffing his blankie in his mouth. He's finally found his thumb, and loves sucking his thumb and stuffing his hands in his mouth. We gave him Sophie recently to chew on, but he hasn't quite mastered keeping Sophie in his mouth and she's too big to fit comfortably in his mouth anyhow, he does love hearing her squeak though.

Preston has been sleeping through the night more often than not recently, so sleepwise, it's been great. I would love to ferberize him sooner rather than later, and then, his sleep would be perfect. Overall, he's been a lovely baby and we are so smittened by him each and every day.

Here are some pictures from his 4 months photoshoot.

Preston says, "Peace out." We didn't set this up, it was all him. I didn't even know he was giving the peace sign until I was looking through the pictures afterwards.

Happy Father's Day

Today, we celebrate Jack's very first Father's Day! He's been a papa for almost four whole months now, and I could not have asked for a better person to be my son's father. Preston is truly the luckiest baby on earth to have such an attentive, adoring, and loving daddy. We had such a beautiful, fun, and adventurous 3 day weekend with family.

On Friday, we made an impromptu trip to good ole Annapolis since it was such a beauutiful day! I love being outside at times like this, and what's a better place to be outdoors than by the water? We had lunch outside, next to all the boats and yachts at Pussers Carribean Grill. What a great sight! The baby loves it too, looking around and taking in all the new scenery with his 'i am in awe' look. The only down side is that he's so excited and distracted by everything that he has a hard time sitting still and finishing all his milk.

After lunch and walking around a bit, we had to have some ice cream! It seemed like everyone in town was having it. There were quite a few ice cream stores, but we chose I think the most famous (based on how busy they were) of them all, Storm Bros Ice Cream Factory. It was delicious. Preston wasn't as impressed.

On Saturday, Jack and I got to spend some quality time together at a Nats vs Yankees game. It nice to be out without the baby, but while we were there, I couldn't stop looking at other people's babies and thinking about how we can bring Preston next time. Things you never noticed before having a child, we take notes on now, like ramps, diaper changing stations in the bathrooms, and noise levels. The little guys definitely coming with us next time, we found the Nats stadium to be pretty baby friendly.

On the actual Father's Day, we had lunch with Preston's Grandpa and Great-Grandpa and other family members. Below is a picture I felt like I had to have, and am so glad I took it, four generations together in one photo. I am sure we'll cherish it forever.

After lunch, the three of us headed to Chrysalis Vineyard to enjoy another beautiful day outdoors. We picked up some fried korean chicken along the way and enjoyed a bottle of Albarino, yum! I love the wine at this vineyard, we bought a bottle of Viognier to take home. I think Viognier may be my favorite white wine so far. Preston's drink of choice: Similac Advance.

I know Jack had the best Father's Day, which was my goal because he deserves it for being the best partner to me and daddy in the world to Preston!

The Most Beautiful Sound

Preston is now almost 4 months old, and he's been making music to our ears with his laughter for the past month. Right now, the only times he'll laugh, as I've discovered, is when he is being undressed! It must be because he feels totally helpless and vulnerable when his arms are stuck in his shirt as I am taking it off of him. Even with a light brush of my fingers against his side, he's tickled silly. How I love hearing my baby laugh every night before I give him his bath. I don't think it'll ever get old. It's so therapeutic, it makes me laugh too. I want to share it with the world.

Charlottesville, VA

This past Monday and Tuesday, we took a mini-family get away to Charlottesville, VA. I went for work to attend an annual client investment meeting with Investure, and Jack and Preston came along. It was Preston's first time spending the night away from home, not counting the time he had to stay at the hospital for his jaundice treatment. He did great on the ride there and back, sleeping pretty much the whole way...a sleeping baby is bliss. What a good baby.

Charlottesville is quite beautiful and charming. Our hotel was right by the middle of the historic main street, so we enjoyed walking around the first day there. On the second day, we got famous fried chicken from Wayside and went to UVA for a quick look-around. It is a beautiful campus, we only got to see the retunda, which is under renovation, and the dorm rooms running along the field in front of the building. It is so different from USC, but beautiful in its own way.

It was a great trip overall for me...as for Jack, I am sure he could've had less crying from Preston. We did feel a little braver about traveling with a baby after this experience, so maybe we'll take a few other family mini-vacations this summer.

We left our marks on the wall.

Jack and I had our fried chicken lunch under this beautiful tree at UVA.

By the time we got to the Monticello, they were closed! This is by the ticket office.

Dinner hosted by Investure at the Monticello garden, overlooking beautiful vista.

Celebration

Today, our families came together to celebrate Preston turning 100 days old. The significance of the celebration is to bestow upon him our wishes that he will live 100 years (or more). Preston wore a silver longevity necklace and a silver anklet with bells that my mom gave him. Supposedly, the baby wears pants with fringes on the legs, as fringe sounds like years in Chinese, and we want him to live for many many years. The more fringes, the merrier.  However, I think Preston would've looked a little silly with fringes, so he wore a cute Polo romper instead. It worked out well because we got balloons to match, he was color coordinated with grandma, and his daddy wore Polo too (of course :).

We had lunch at the China Jade Chinese Restaurant in Gaithersburg. Thanks to Julie, Michael, and Jack for being photographers.

At the end of the day, Preston came out a little bit richer, & he knows it too. Look at that smile on the little guy's face..haha!
