This past Monday and Tuesday, we took a mini-family get away to Charlottesville, VA. I went for work to attend an annual client investment meeting with Investure, and Jack and Preston came along. It was Preston's first time spending the night away from home, not counting the time he had to stay at the hospital for his jaundice treatment. He did great on the ride there and back, sleeping pretty much the whole way...a sleeping baby is bliss. What a good baby.
Charlottesville is quite beautiful and charming. Our hotel was right by the middle of the historic main street, so we enjoyed walking around the first day there. On the second day, we got famous fried chicken from Wayside and went to UVA for a quick look-around. It is a beautiful campus, we only got to see the retunda, which is under renovation, and the dorm rooms running along the field in front of the building. It is so different from USC, but beautiful in its own way.
It was a great trip overall for me...as for Jack, I am sure he could've had less crying from Preston. We did feel a little braver about traveling with a baby after this experience, so maybe we'll take a few other family mini-vacations this summer.
